Blue Mountain Beach, FL

Rising 64-feet above sea level, Blue Mountain Beach marks the highest point on the Emerald Coast—and perhaps the grooviest. Blue Mountain Beach got its name thanks to clusters of blue lupine flowers indigenous to the coastal dunes, which presented the illusion of a “blue mountain” to sailors on the Gulf. This laidback community became an extension of Dune Allen in 1948 as its artful, colorful neighbor. Here you’ll find casual dining, boutiques, artist studios, easy beach access, and a must-stop ice cream shop at Blue Mountain Creamery. The coastal dune lakes here offer kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing, along with stunning sunsets. To the west––on the corner of 30A and County Hwy 393––you’ll find Gulf Place, offering a variety of boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants. Of special interest are the Artists at Gulf Place galleries, where you’ll find one-of-a-kind artwork from leather-and-pearl jewelry to paintings to art classes.
